lol Well, personally I like it when I get corrected, and keeps us on our toes. For years I was saying 'the former or the later' (made sense to me since English is not my first language), until somebody corrected me and pointed out that it's not 'later' but 'latter'. Now I don't embarace myself anymore (well, at least not with that particular word, eheh).
I think it all depends on the intention behind the correction. And here it's all in good fun, although the word 'Jafo' did come to my mind as well. 
In the 'no need for you to do nothing' case, it was a honest to God mistake, as I actually know the correct construction.
