everybody afraid of his Karma-Points

I'm using my Karma points for my neurobiology exam today - which reminds me......I should be studying and not on this site

erm.....Karma points can be used for college credit right? I thought that's how doc got his license.......

Still here and plan to continue even more visible in 3 months when I will be retired.

I'm not one to complain and cause problems but will say this just to put it out there and it's only my personal opinion. I have no problem with the design of the new site as it's more with what a site should look like in 2010. The people working on getting it up and fixing things are doing a good job and the best they can given the time they have and the problems. However it doesn't change the fact we are always hearing the same thing "we are working or it" For me and I'm sure many others this is getting old as it's now May and still many things that need to be taken care of. Think it's time Stardock hires some people to work around the clock and get this fixed quickly. I'm sure there are many people that can do web site design and fixing that would be happy to be employed for a month if that is all it takes.

Again I'm not pissed off, mad, love the people here and have no plans to leave. Now we are hearing things are down at other places and it's also down here. The difference from this community from the others is, it has always been more active than the others. So lets get this web site situation fixed and make it fast and work correctly. Than we can at least find out for sure and get the great spirit back this community is known for.

Could this just be a slow time because of what people have going on in the rest of their lives?

From what I have seen folks do come and go, move on as has been said above, and the rest have other things going on right now.

It also maybe that the popularity of customizing your desktop just isn't as important as it has been.

I have been here longer than most and less than many but I must say i feel like I have been in this conversation for many, many years.  It is like a soap opera where you can tune in at any point and never miss a beat in the story, it just goes on and on.  Suffice it to say, that the Wc site is not known for its reliability and speed.  But like many, I continue to hope that maybe this time.........

The politically correct forum posture is another issue all together and it seems to mirror an overall trend in society that is regrettable at best, but again, just one man's opinion.

Quoting c242,

Shhh. Don't tell Doc.   He thinks we give him karma because we like him.

Sure the site has it's bugs and quirks but these too shall pass. I survived Vista,I can survive this.

Most of us want the latest OS,computer hardware, software, TV, car, etc. Why settle for an outdated website just because it's comfortable and "it still works."  Someday in the future the same will be said about this version of WC and it's replacement. Progress is being made, things are getting better and I'll bet most users will end up liking the new site ......eventually. If I'm wrong about that,I may be the only one left here to notice.

I see no logic behind getting frustrated about something I have absolutely no control over. I'm here more for company than content so as long as there are folks here that I can help or humor, I'm not going to give up on WC. I don't fault anyone for taking a break for awhile, go if you must. Just remember that the "survivors" will be here anxiously awaiting the return of their missing friends.

So to answer the question again....yes,I'm here and it's still good to be "Home"

Well, if it only was for the site. See how many apps are in ruins at the moment... Object Desktop value gets smaller and smaller also. And there we have heard 'Everything will get better !' every time also. People are driven away as their opinion is not heard no matter if they have been valuable contributors to certain apps (best example is DesktopX). Frustrating for sure. So for me it is not only economical or other reasons. Some of the reasons lie within how people are treated here if they are not only lucky with the situation.

c242 - Don't get yourself all worked up.  it is just a web site and it is what it is.  Otherwise you stress yourself and who needs that my friend.  Enjoy, as you only have one time around in this life.

I've been here for quite some time myself... and I have no Karma... mine up and left 2 years ago when I, at the time didn't need any pills for anything... two years later, I've got Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and Osteoporosis and am taking a bunch of meds day and night.... some of the stupid things make me grumpy... I know that sounds hard to believe... me grumpy, but hey I'm still kickin and who needs karma when you got Lyrica or any other of the fine meds I get!  And to those I've ticked off over the last year or so... )  sorry, but I'll try and stick it out and see...

Lets hope that this transition stage is just that, everything seems to be dead at the moment unfortunately, seems maybe some fires need to be lit under some rear ends and get this community back to what it once was because right now all is definitely not well.

If y'all need some help, I'd be more than happy to put forward some solutions for a more productive, vibrant, dynamic site.

Oh and if anyone wants my Karma, have at it, bloody useless imo. Causes far more issues than its worth...imo.

Lets get the site working as it should y'all, lot of people depending on it! C'mon!

overbearing "proper decorum" would be the death of vibrancy for the site
I agree that this has been having an effect in the forums, but I seriously doubt that is having any effect on download counts. It looks quiet around here because alot of things that happen in the forums now takes place behind the scenes. Yahoo IM, Skype, MSN, IRC, etc. is where alot of action takes place.

handful of us have tried to keep it going, but it's an uphill battle when the majority stays away in droves
I don't believe they are staying away in droves. It's summer now, and it has always been quieter in the summer months. Many are out mowing the lawn, playing in the sandbox with the kids, having BBQ's. It's just too nice out there! Things will pick up in the colder months.

new site grade: C
We just need to give them more time to get things in working order. I'm sure they are busting their butts to get it running right, but these things can take some time. It's up to us to make this place better by telling them what does not work, and giving them time to fix it.

disappearance of a lot of people who were fixtures here
Yup, and now WE are the fixtures. I have noticed alot of new faces making comments on my skins, more than before. Instead of regretting that people have left, we should be encouraging and helping the new people who are just getting to know us. It's up to US to make this place better if we don't like what we see.

Rumors of my death have been greatly exagerated.  I'm here . . just  . .  quiet.

I've been around a long time.  And the site cycles and people leave and new people take their place and it's always shifting.

I've heard it said that you can never step into the same river twice.  The water is different even though the river is the same.  WC is like that.  But without the water and with skinning . . and it's digital.

Stay, go, come back, whatever.  WC will be here.  (And until I get a life . . I'll be here too. )

Okay, if making suggestions is allowed, Island Dogs posted a thread about a Beginning of Summer Skin Contesthttp://forums.wincustomize.com/381675

The contest is open to all skins available on WinCustomize.  That should make alot of folks happy.

Now for starters the community can support the contest as best we can.  I'm talking about the skinners participating with entering skins and non skinners, well, I think I will offer ID some help with making the prizes a little better.

Okay, any other ideas?
