Okay, so everyone is posting about their new computers. I just built one yesterday and installed all my programs on it today. Here goes:

Foxconn Renaissance LGA 1366 Motherboard

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz Quad Core Processor

12 GB DDR3 Memory

1 TB Hard Drive

MSI GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB Video Card (from my previous machine)

Running Windows 7 64-Bit.

I ran a memory test on the system overnight before installing Windows. It made 9 passes and had 0 errors. Another blessing is that it turned on the very first time I pushed the power button. No guessing games!

Oh, and this thing is really fast!

To me, your Frankensein would be my economic Dracula... financially it woulda sucked sucked me dry and then some, given Oz prices on PC parts.

Anyhow, you braggart you, it looks like a super duper machine and congrats.  I hope you derive endless hours of enjoyment and pleasure from it.   I'm not jealous at all, just a little envious.... orright, a lot envious.

Actually, this is a result of having many more duties placed on me at work. My office needed another workstation, and if the office is going to get it, then I may as well build it as MY workstation. Especially because the cost of parts isn't that much different between what I got and several steps down. I spend an extra couple hundred over simply building a core 2 duo machine.

But yes, I will derive many hours of enjoyment from it, and hopefully get a lot done, too.

Just wait...you just wait...I'll get mine...someday...in the near future...maybe...before hell freezes over. Good luck with your newbie. I hope you have a helluva good time...skinning that is.
