Stardock’s new killer app: Fences. Download it, it’s free!
https://www.stardock.com/products/fences
I'm already using it, and it is one of the best ideas to come from Stardock!
Already got it and its a really useful program.
Two gripes though:
Impulse is demanding a registration in order to download an update. Since it was free, I don't have one to give it
Csn you make it compatible with RightClick? At the moment if I enable RC I lose the frames options, and I can't find a way of adding them to the RC menu

I like it as well. It's a seriously cool app, but alas it does not seem to want to work with Display Fusion. It sets both my monitors to the same wallpaper and I cannot seem to change it.
I have used it since the early betas and it has replaced my paid for version of Objectdock. Seriously a great program and just fortifies my resolve to carry on supporting Stardock in its apps and games!
all the way
I think it actually works very well together with OD. Fences cleans up my desktop, OD gives quick, easy access to applications without cluttering the screen again.
It says it is free for "personal use".
I am an Object Desktop Ultimate current subscriber. Can I use this at work?
(I use a Macintosh at home.)
adding to what Coelocanth said, it also doesnt support virtual desktops, if i change the layout on one desktop the other one is changed too, it woul be neat if it does support this feature. i use altDesk for the virtual desktops
Thanks - just what I need to get all these shortcuts organized.
And i will recommend it to my dad (who is even more of a really-cluttered-desktop-guy than I am).
Greetings;
I'm a new user of Stardock products which had been on my wish list for eons. I cannot remember when I have had more fun , learnin' & usin', a new program such as I'm havin' with this one and all those included. I had just installed Fences yesterday and it is just too neat. My mind is still not used to not havin' one icon on the desktop. It is just too clean but awesome to enjoy the desktop pic without stuff all around the entire edges such I have had for many years.
This is one program that I will highly recommend to all I know.
I've just started using Fences...pretty cool
I have 1 question, for now anyway, Is is possible to disable an individual fenced in area from automatically rearranging itself?
Thanks,
Tech42
He/she most likely mean the Fences options, like 'Edit Fences' and 'Lock Fences'. The "vanish" from the menu when using RC, and you have to press ctrl+rightclick to see/use them.
Would be nice if those menu-options could be added as an 'item' in our RightClick menues
Great App. Tested it on XP. Brings system as expected to crash
Tell me, any plans to make this work for XP?
Works fine on my XP, other than not wanting to play nice with Display Fusion.
I downloaded it, installed it, ran the configure wizard thingy, and...
IT'S FANTASTIC!
It does work on XP, but you need .NET 2.0 as well.
Thanks for the quick answers!
"Unfortunately", I have .NET 2.0.
I don't know which other app causes it to crash then, but I will try it again.
If I have more information and could not resolve it, I will post again.
This seems to break multi-monitor spanning wallpapers. When I enable fences it changes the wallpaper so that instead of spanning, it shows multiple copies. I use DisplayFusion to span.
I must say that I love this application. I dreamed of it a while ago, and when I saw it I thought "At last!"
I had already made a desktop background image a while back that sort of had areas with different outlines so I could put icons of different categories in them. Never really worked very well though:P
EDIT: On second thought, I decided to share it with you (reduced the size though)
I installed it and I love it!
@paffinity - Yeah, aware of the Ultramon/Displayfusion wallpaper issues, will be fixing that in the next update in not long.
@Achronous - cool look! the pro version later this year will have skinning support for sure, and that is a cool concept right there thanks for sharing.
I am loving this. Thanks a lot!
