In 2007 i created 2 fleets after getting inspired by too many ship designers to list them all here) - one for the Terrans and one for the Altarians.
In 2008 i followed the Ship Design Thread again with great interest, but was not able to participate because of r/l.
Now a new year has started. I think it's time to start a new thread where this year you and i all can show the ship designs we created.
It doesn't matter if they were done with Dread Lords, Dark Avatar or even with Twilight of the Arnor. Just show what you think you like to show.

Inspired by the combat dropship from "Aliens":
The heavy hitters:
very nice!!!
Starship from Aliens:
Wow, this thread is mocking me and my messed up designs. I just throw junk on them, never caring for what they look like.
Would be very interesting if someone showed a video on your progress in making these. I can imagine it takes some work.
Nice job guys. Seriously.
I know how you feel filthgrinder. I downloaded Felraven's ship pack soon after I bought DL and after seeing those ships, I trashed everything I designed beforehand. Thanks to Kyro too-- his hull mod makes possible 2 of my favorite design elements: hulls as jewelry and offset points (so I can position parts almost any way I want)
Here are the ships from an incomplete effort to make a Korath ship style.
Ahhh, so you are using mods. Well that's just cheating. To think I was impressed and this was from the "out of box" game.
Anyways, I play the game fully zoomed out. Don't really see the ships much.
Great Job!
This ships design is superb!
Nice work
If it makes you feel any better filth, all of my designs are made without any mods.
Vegan: Can you translate the ship names into English? My Latin is way below par.......
Not that it matters, but as long as we're making it an issue : No mods were used during the creation of these designs. Also, no animals were hurt while making these designs. The designs are fictional. Any likeness to actual persons or events is purely coincidental.
Anyway, this is what was fighting for me in the last game I played. I played the Terrans this time. Displayed in the order I designed them:Terran Alliance 'Fafner' (M4) class starfighter (tiny hull):This was my standard fighter. It made up the bulk of my fleet.Terran Alliance 'Patriot' (M4) class gunship (small hull):For planetary defense and border patrols.Terran Alliance 'Punisher' (M4) class battleship (large hull):Basically a big flying weapons platform. Made to fight both alone and as part of a fleet.Terran Alliance 'Hermes' (M2) class carrier (large hull):Designed to carry lots of starfighters to the battlefield.Terran Alliance 'Basilisk' (M1) class troop transport (cargo hull):A simple transport design with added sensor array so it knows when to run away .Terran Alliance 'Diligence' (M2) class frigate (medium hull):At the point in the game this was designed, my territory was becoming so large (I was playing a huge galaxy map) that random hostile elements straying into my space was becoming a problem. This was build to hunt those down.Terran Alliance 'Caesar' (M2) class command cruiser (huge hull):Leading my fleets into battle. Boosting attack strength and soaking up damage. This replaced the 'Hermes' class carrier as it could perform the same function (accelerate my fleets into battle) and more.Terran Alliance 'Inquisitor' (M1) class ranger (huge hull):It was never actually necesarry to build this. At the point in the game it was designed I was already winning. I made it to kinda... show off... to a computer... never mind.
I was listening to the "Batman Begins" soundtrack while making the first set; the ship names are all bat species. The Korath fleet names are mostly medical/body/disease terms and random words that have evil connotations.
I like your style, migr8r. You combined elements in ways I'd never thought of.
While my builds are not of this level, I have recently built a new PC, and I would like to move my games AND ship designs over to the new PC. Where are they stored in the install directory?
