ClassicPro for Winamp release new version!

Latest Winamp version is needed! Since we last post about ClassicPro a lot have changed.

We're now at version 1.03 and have more than 30 skins by various skinners. We also had our first competition 3months ago and the feedback was so good that we will be doing something similar in near future.

We now almost have our section at the www.winamp.com website:

Furthermore we would like to know if it will be possible to upload ClassicPro skins here on the wincustomize site? Its basically winamp modern skins so its still a *.wal file. Watch this space for any new competitions or ClassicPro news Regards, SkinConsortium

Is this Vista64 bit compatible?

I had previously tried to install version 1.02 (on the matching version of Winamp) but after installation Winamp just "ran" continously through the playlist but refused to play any songs.

I had to un-install and re-install Winamp.

Is this a known issue, or did something weird and unexpected happen when I installed ClassicPro?

Indeed, just bring'em on!! We've already got some CPro skins in our WinAmp library.
I've already seen/used many of the CPro skins, and are conviced they will be a fine addition to our current selection.

@aufisch: Mmm.... One of the developers also have Vista (32bit) but he dont have any problems. In the end of the day ClassicPro skins is just a normal modern skin so if anything doesnt work its a Winamp bug. What I'll recommend is that you make sure you have the latest version and then:
- Uninstall Winamp (backup all your skins + bookmarks).
- Delete this folder (%appdata%/winamp)
- Delete this folder (C:\Program Files\Winamp)
Now install the latest Winamp 5.54 again (It have various Vista fixes)
Then install ClassicPro.
Most Winamp errors are caused by the appdata directory (that now stores all settings) having some sort of faulty setting. If you upgrade Winamp then theres also a big chance that theres still a old plugin in the directory that might be causing the crashes.

Latest Winamp version is needed!

I tried updating to the latest version of Winamp to use a CPro skin, and everything went to hell. Winamp wouldn't start up, kept getting errors, so I went back to 5.35 and I'm sticking with it.

If you follow this your Winamp will work. Winamp 5.54 is way better than 5.34. There were allot of bug fixes since then and performance improvements since they were very active on development the last 12months.

Heres how to fix any Winamp problem:
- Backup your skins, bookmarks(save them to playlist)
- Make sure you have installs for your 3rd party plugins (dont use plugins that havent been updated >24months ago)
- Uninstall Winamp
- Delete folder (%appdata%/winamp)
- Delete folder (C:\Program Files\Winamp)
- Install latest Winamp version (only install the options you use.. see below**)
- Copy skins back

Btw, most of the errors users get in Winamp is because of old 3rd party plugins.

If your using Gtalk (maybe other IM's too) theres a bug in gtalk if you select "Show Current playing track". To fix this create a black text document here and rename it to "winamp.m3u":
C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.m3u
This is actually a gtalk bug but they dont seem to update their IM to much these days...
