Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Weekly Poll: Changing Skins

By Posted May 20, 2008 08:39:15External Link

Time for another weekly poll.  This week it's a pretty simple question: How often do you change skins?  Is it frequently, or only a few times a year?  Can you even remember the last time you changed skins on your PC?

Vote in the poll, leave your comments here.  Results next week.

On my work PC I change rarely.  My button config is unique and I need the buttons to be where they are and not move.  I rely on muscle memory to work faster.

On my "play" PC I change monthly or so to a main theme but I usually am testing skins for this or that person daily and change pretty often.  It's usually through testing that I find a more permanent theme.

I'm saddened to say that my wife has been using Vista Plus (an awesome skin) since it was released.

That all depends, when's Danilloc making a new one?

Honestly, it really does vary on what I see being released. If I don't see anything that makes my want to change my current, I don't. So I could end up with the same skin for a long time.

Realistically once every 4 - 5 days but I clicked once a week since I'm trying to cut down to that. Actually thinking about setting up a Virtual Desktop or second user account with a set theme so that my habit of changing the theme so often doesn't interfere with work programs.

On average, twice a day.AM/PM .I like a dark desktop at night.I have too many choices to narrow it down two favorites. This is my "hobby" so I play around a lot.About the time I settle on one ,somebody makes something that I just have to try out. It's WC's (and you skinners')fault! And I thank you all!!!

I've got tons of skins (with docks to match)...but I change my desktop depending on the set of docks I'm working on...after that its back to Ecliz...I just love the transparency of that skin.

I'm with WG, I change alot, but I come back to my favorite...Black.

At the moment seems I have 160 WB on the computer, so tend to change it around often just because I can. Nearly always DL a new one to have a look at but then will go back to one of a few that I find easy to use, in so much as colours and text work in the programs I use the most.

Since I started making wb skins I change every time I'm starting a new one. I do my own testing so it could be several months in between skins. I still check out skins from others all the time to get and see what's new. I have a fairly decent amount of skins that I have saved.

Do you know what might be fun - a skin randomizer that automatically switches skins on boot-up.

I wouldn't mind a Dreams randomizer too.

a skin randomizer that automatically switches skins on boot-up

You can do that with the WB config. Just select the 'Random skin' on the list, and select the skins you want to switch between - or all skins installed. A random skin will then be set whenever you boot/login.

I don't change skin on a regular basis. Only when I see one that I like.
But just for the sake being I picked 'once a month'.
I've been stuck with JJs Edisso WB and Stardocks Leo for ages, but I changed to LightStars Vendetta skin the other day just as soon as I saw it in the moderation queue.

Fun fact:
If I applied all the WB's in my collection, starting from the top, changing to a new one every day, I wouldn't see the same skin for 22 years

i change everytime i make a new wb.....

I checked off 'Once a month' only because thats what I 'would' do on a regular bases... but much like other skinners who have replied so far, whatever skin I'm working on holds major priority over all others till its complete.

btw, I rarely use my old skins as I get tired of looking at them for so long during the creation. I have found I'll go back to a few of them though from time to time after a few months or so. Plus I like what others do as well and want to get a feel for this and that.. there be some good skinners around

I actually change when a new skin is interesting to me or I like the color combinations. Right now I am in my purple stage. I change when I get bored with the skin.

I change skins on a regular basis. If you are a W/Bs user dont upgrade to verion 6.1. I did via stardock central, and it wont let you apply any skins. Why stardock do this is beyond me.

6.1 works great for most folks.  I'd suggest you install it again and post yoru system info (in a new post) so we can see what is wrong and get it fixed.

There's no shame in asking for help. 6.1 has significant improvements over 6.0. No bugs that I've seen. Runs very well on my low-spec rig w/Vista Home Basic. Why not put the terrific resources available here to work for you. They won't give up 'til your fixed. Good Luck!
