Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

"Impulse up to date!"...what?

By Posted May 8, 2008 18:28:34
The last two days I've logged into Impulse it's downloaded an update, then it immediately says, "Impulse is up to date!"  So it doesn't seem to install anything, and it doesn't ask to be rebooted.  What's it doing?

Much thanks,

Noticed this too. Just figured they were minor updates that didn't require Impulse to reboot.

I don't have the notes in front of me but I do belive that is the case. Does it happen every single time you start up Impulse?

No. It didn't happen this morning. Just the two days prior. Which is the first time I've seen that behavior, so I was curious to know what it is.

I've opened it 4 times over the course of the past 3 days and it did it 2 out of the 4 times.

Same for ma as well

That sounds about right. To call the Impulse team "busy", or "pressed" for time is to call the Pacific "damp" and "a good size".

For I don't even know how long you will likely be getting near daily updates.

However if you run into any issue where is never stops updating or won't log back in you can always refresh the XML data to make the software try it again.

To do that click the "?" help button, XML Public, Delete all the data files in the window that pops up, restart. You will see this suggestion all over the place by me but it is very effective for a often updated online software.

That's cool - I had just never seen an update that didn't prompt for a restart.

I'm very certain that is isn't always necessary for a restart. However I do believe the software won't run with out it as a safe guard for smooth installs and properly working software. It certainly isn't done to simply bug you. We actually make specific gadgets that do that.
