Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

How do I raise the whole start menu up?

I'm using Butch123's MidNight skin and the start menu is too low. I have SkinStudio 4.3 and WindowBlinds 6 if that helps.

Looks like XP - are using the XP version of his skin?
I believe he has taken that one down due to problems maybe.
Also to edit the skin you have you will need skin studio pro. 5 at least I believe.

I'm running XP but the only version he had up said it wasn't tested for XP. Others posted comments saying it worked fine for them. The only problem I have with it is the start menu. I downloaded the free SkinStudio 6. This one looks a lot easier to use Got it moved up but now there is a gap

NEVERMIND, I GOT IT! I opened another skin in the editor and copied the numbers. Woohoo!

Adam - I've seen the same thing. I love the Midnight colors. I've mentioned to Butch a couple times in the forum that his skins seem to work perfectly with XP except for the start menu. He's not replied either time to my posts and continued to work toward an "XP version." I can only assume there is more involved than simply changing the start menu. Unfortunately everytime Butch releases a "XP version" I've had more problems with it than the "Vista version." Crazy, huh?

I think you're taking the right approach. I tried to modify skins with SkinStudio 5 and found it a little too daunting. SkinStudio 6 may be easier. I bought version 5 just before 6 was released and was sent a free upgrade. I'll have to give version 6 a try.

I find just about every skin has one or two little things I'd like to change to meet my personal tastes. Making small modifications for personal use is the only way to go for picky people like me

Good luck.

Well the gap is there beacuse you just cant copy the numbers... what you have to do is make a new bottom half of the startmenu with more transparent space under it to move the whole thing up, as the numbers are the size of the pic used, then push up the text margins so the logoff and shutdown text is on the panel.

You can do it like this, in SKS edit the pic thats in it already and just add more canvas under it if you use photoshop, and its a tga/png if its a bmp magic pink is used, add more magic pink, and you just need the trans checkbox checked.
Looks like you want to add 30-40px guessing by the screenshot.
After that the textmargins for the bottomhalf of the startpanel.

Goodluck..
