Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

"This machine MUST be rebooted after installing this version of WB6"

After Successfully Updating Everything with Impulse

By Posted May 1, 2008 08:15:52

I decided to tackle Impulse with trepidation after reading all the horror stories.  I downloaded the latest version from a link in the Impulse forum.  As soo as Impulse loaded it asked to update itself, so i did.  After I restarted Impulse I updated everything successfully except Skin Studio which said it was missing a password and did not complete so I restarted it and it updated successfully.

After I rebooted WB did not start so I tried it with the Program Menu and I got the subject error.  It also said: (Sorry I have a bitmap, but cannot figure out how to insert an image without a URL so will type it out)

"If you have rebooted and still get this message, you may need to disable any registry protection / anti spyware apps you have and reinstall WindowBlinds as they may be incorrectly preventing the install.  As an alternative, you can press the 'Use additional process' button which will make Windowblinds use a little more memory, but may resolve this problem."

As for the first suggestion, I am using Comodo Firewall 3 and I added wbcfg ( or wbconfig) as a trusted application which did not help.  I also have NOD 32 by Eset as my Virus Program.

As for the other suggestion about one of the buttons, it didn't work.  So I rebooted three times with no effect.

Any suggestions?  How do I re-install from archive?

Peter

Did you try just turning off your AV?

How do I re-install from archive?

Don't have Impulse... but in SDC it's 'file' > 'restore archive' = pick from the list when it comes up... should be the equivalent somewhere in Impulse

Bichur,
I rplied Friday night late, apparently it was lost in the Forum crash this weekend.
In SDC the newset WD I had archived was 6.02.5. When I click on Verify Applicaton in Impulse (v 1.01.155) it says: WindowBlinds 6 is not installed correctly. Please look for an application update. There aren't any.

Today I updated SDC to 2.54.522 and it showed WB 6.10.079 so I am trying that. That version installed and works fine. I wonder why I couldn't get it with Impulse?

Final update Thursday 5-8-08.
Even though WB 6.10.79 was working fine I tried Impulse again last night. It said updates were available for Icon Packager and Window Blinds 6 (Version 6.10.81) so I said update. When I rebooted I got the error again as above. So I went into SDC and tried to restore archive 6.10.79 three times and it failed each time. It installed that version (6.10.79) but not correctly.

So I opened Object Desktop in SDC and tried the update to 6.10.81 and that worked.

What I learned, Impulse is not ready yet for prime time. Stick to SDC for now.
