Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Beef with MyColors

I recently purchased both Quest and Skeech as I am a fan of Essorants skins.  I am finding that the windowblinds graphics are scrambled, I guess as a kind of DRM.  The problem is, that I like to tweak skins for my own use and taste and I am frustrated that I can't.  This will prevent me from purchasing any more themes

Maybe the new version is different, but if you apply it, then it creates a directory with the "real" skin in it. I used this method to make the University of Florida theme into a normal Windowblind.

I'm right there with ya. I like to tweak the blinds myself. Some of the Vista images aren't done and some haven't learned how to move some images in the Start Menu, yet.

I know the images are for security or theft reasons.
It's still a new product, so time will tell if this will be looked at.

Also, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious if the WBs will work without My Colors installed?
If they don't, I'll leave that for another day......

Protecting skins from theft is a reality. So many times in the past suites or skins have been released only to appear out in the wild a short time later. I think it's a good thing that there is now a way to protect authors' copyrights and protect a company's financial investment.

There are some disadvantages though, as you have seen, but it is a positive step forward.
