"Show Desktop" not working as expected when using a DX Theem

I am using the Office Extreem Theem and when I use short-cuts that would normally take me back to the desktop, they don't work.  Instead of being back at the DX desktop, I end up with a totally grey screen with nothing visable (presumably the real XP Desktop).  What do I need to do to be able to switch back to the DX desktop via a short-cut or something?

if you want/need to change the F9/F10 to something else, right click the systray icon and show 'the welcome' - right click on the welcome screen and go into properties
