Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Silly question, how will we know that the launch has taken place?

Will Frogboy make a post?

I see that Object Desktop Launchpad has been updated, is that the launch?

Is there a way for OD Subscribers to get the Windowblinds skins from the My Colors themes only? Thanks.

GregII - you can only get the entire theme.  However, we now offer an ODNT discount for all Object Desktop Subscribers.  Just go to the Mycolors site, click on a theme you want, and to the right (under the buy button) you'll see a spot that says "Have Object Desktop?".  Click the link, enter your info, and it will be added to your cart.

Object Desktop subscribers now get a discount on MyColors themes (see the ODNT Discount link on every MyColors product below the buy button).  When you apply the MyColors theme, it extracts the skin so you can apply it with WindowBlinds as well.

I get a consistent crash when using Techsmith's SnagIt screen capture program on Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Windowblinds 6.1 build 91 x64 Vista Edition. Once SnagIt is minimized to the systray I cannot right-click on it without crashing the program.

This drastically reduces the utility of SnagIt.

If I put in a per-app exclusion for SnagIt the problem goes away. Other than this SnagIt doesn't seem to have any issues with Windowblinds as everything else I've tried with the program is just fine and skins properly.

Zargon0225 I appreciate the link to the Press Release. Thank you.

Also good job you are doing, if no one has mentioned it yet. Keeping the members informed and providing needed answers is always a nice thing to see in the forums.

I just Purhcased Object Desktop last week, do I get free upgrades to 2007 OD or do I have to purchase something again? At work right now, I figure this might be easily answered when I get home and run OD..

If you purchased Object Desktop before today, you were automatically upgraded to Object Desktop Ultimate.

Ahh, I read that but misunderstood it as having to repurchase the new 2008 Normal edition and getting upgraded to Ultimate free.

Thanks for the clarification

so once more just to clarify...

If I purchased object Desktop 2007 about 8 months ago, I get a free upgrade to 2008 Ultimate?

Thanks

Yes.  If you install impulse and go to the registration tab you should see your Ultimate serial
April 10, 2008 13:50:05
What is impulse?

Sorry for my ignorance.

My SDC is/was not updating for the new stuff (at all). I even went as far as reinstalling...then it updated, to the same version I had before I removed it. I was excited, to say the least, but then I opened it, and to my surprise..same old window.

Didn't seem right...so went looking around...

I had to come here to get the Impulse...and I only found this by chance.

well at least I have it now...maybe Stardock needs to post the link to the Impulse like Zubaz did, some place - so others, in case they have the same problem like I did...so they can find it to.

Thanks Zubaz...helped bunches
if I didn't find it like I did, I'd still be waiting on the fence...
(oh and thanks to Zargon0225 for starting this thread so I could find it!)

Yes, this is also the ONLY place I could find impulse. Using the websites search engine is pretty useless.

Also, how come after installing impulse and updating everything there is no mention of "2008" anywhere. I would figure it would be somewhere after upgrading.

ODNT2008 is just a snapshot of what is available now.  It's not an app, it's a name of the subscription.

Impulse is going to be bigger than just ODNT.

Yes, this is also the ONLY place I could find impulse. Using the websites search engine is pretty useless. Why would it not be visible in the updates in Star Dock Central? Also, shouldn't it uninstall SDC before or after impulse is installed since SDC at that point would be redundant?

Thanks
April 11, 2008 10:18:38
Impulse is still in a beta phase.  The power users will find it and test it out.  SDC is still the official digital distribution app.  I think that once Impulse is vetted it will get more focus.

Also, it works fine running along side of impulse so there is no need to uninstall at this point.
April 12, 2008 05:59:03
Well i recently purchased Object Desktop 2008. Installation craps itself pretty soon after starting install. This is the error:

"The installation of Impulse (a pre-requisite to Object Desktop) failed.

This may be because a previous installation of Impulse has not been fully uninstalled. Please uninstall Impulse if a previous install existed."

I find it hard to believe since i have never had Impulse on my computer. So i go to the control panel and uninstall the Impulse item and then try again. And yet again, the same error comes up when i try to install Object Desktop
