What's the exclaimation next to SKS6 supposed to mean? There is no update.Updated to the newest Impulse you linked, but now things are worse than before. Not only is everything still SO slow, but now many of the programs I have installed that were showing before aren't in the new version of Impulse, ie: My Colors and Component Tray. Also, I too have the exclaimation point as quoted above. Impulse shows version 6.00.006 of SKS6 installed and provides no updates, yet the exclaimation point remains.
Component Tray is only going to be supported in the future with Stardock Central going forward. That application has been discontinued.
MyColors was pulled for today until we have a fix for a small issue. It will reappear today.

Also, SDC starts instantly, it's quite a regression if Impulse takes longer than that.

Downloaded the update (20 min.). Even rebooted, just to make sure, but no success. Proxy didn't work. Still switched to "Working offline" mode.

I passed this on to the responsible developer (T-Man) he will jump on this forum to investigate. Is your Proxy authenticated?

No logon/authentication required. Always connected, sinse day one.
It's just satelite broadband, using the IP Address.

Archives are still 0 bytes

More info:

I archived SKS6 version 6.00.003 (showing an update available ... I haven't updated to 6.00.006 yet), went to check the file size and the archived file name was SkinStudio 6 Professional 6.00.006 and was 0 bytes

I then archived Windowblinds (not showing an update); the file name was correct as far as the version number but still 0 bytes

Well I recieved 3 updates today for deskscapes 2, sound packager and theme manager. Plus there was an update for the program "Impulse" itself to begin with. Did a restart for Deskscapes 2 and then installed the other two updates no problems. There seems to be more stuff in my desktop tab now. So far no problems as to any of what others have reported.
This is for Windows Vista (TM) Ultimate, build 6001.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840

Just before this I finished with new updates for windows - complete with new group policy manager. Really running good here!

There is an update for IconPackager, to 3.99.143, my OD Ultimate sub runs until Nov 2009, getting; registration invalid error when attempt to update.

Pictoratus that is how mine was acting at first with the older build. Can't remember what I did to fix it - but with this new build I'm having no problems doing any updates whatsoever. Did you uninstall and cleanup good before you reinstalled. Oh and a good cleanup needs a restart. I'd be trying that with for sure getting the temp files cleaned up too!

Anyone else getting zero byte archives?

I archived all my installed programs (miss the "download and archive"-function), and the only zero-byte archive I got was RightClick. No matter how many times I deleted that archive and re-archived the application it stayed at 0-byte.

Getting a lot of problems again when compared to SDC. Impulse shows more updates than SDC, but some of them are different versions than on SDC.

Which is best to use, as there are always discrepancies like this?

The Soundpackager option is offered everytime I run Impulse so something is amiss there, and it is not even shown in SDC.

Also as requested in the other thread how do I tell what version I am using of impusle? there doesn't seem to be anyway of finding this out. It updates everytime I run it (or so it seems) but no version numbers.

Will the updated/new skins option available in SDC be incorporated into Impulse, as I found that to be very handy. WWW Link

With SDC, did you enter proxy information into SDC or does it use the pre-defined settings from IE?

You can check underTools -> Settings, Internet tab, Internet Settings button, if you do not know where the settings are.

I'm trying to come up a reproducible scenario and I'm not able to at the moment. I'm suspecting that I just don't have the right proxy configuration yet.

Also, if you open up the Impulse error log, does it show what errors you are getting. I believe before you were getting a 401 Access Denied error. I'm wondering if you are still getting the same error or soemthing new. To view the error log, right click on the question mark button in the upper right corner and chose "Veiw Error Log".

I didn't even know that setting was "in" SDC. Shows how much I look around. Anyways, all of the "proxy" fields are blank.

There is one other message (has nothing to do with the problem) but it's just "DownloadJob Success", but that, of course, wasn't on a proxy.

Oh, and I'm running HughesNet Satellite Broadband. Don't know if you would need that kind of info.

A little bit of feedback for the reinstall scenario:

I had DesktopX Pro installed (3.50.045?), and today there was an update for it. The new version is 3.50.015, but Impulse is telling me that it's newer that my installed version. It says 'previous version installed' under the update.

I clicked on Install and Impulse told me I had to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. I said yes, and IIRC it said uninstalling. And then the "Updates" screen was empty and I wondered for a moment if it worked correctly and installed the new version.

I would have expected to be moved to the "Downloads & Install" screen to see the install progress. The way it's set currently might let user think that it just uninstalled the app and then did nothing, as there is no feedback after the uninstall.

Another small thing is how long the applications stay in the "just installed" state on the Downloads & Install screen. Is it possible for them to stay longer on that screen? More than once, they vanished just as I was about to click on them! Maybe you can let them here for the current session, or up the timer to 5 minutes or so.

ok for some reason, when impulse updated today ( I assume due to the intro of ODNT 2008) it froze on restart. I shut down (via task manager because it is froze) and it did the same thing on second restart. I am locked into the "logging in" stage.

I don't get it...how does this option to "disable custom skin" work?
