Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Downloading Impulse update - Connecting...

By Posted March 31, 2008 05:37:11

Logs in OK

retrieves latest info

validates registrations

downloads updates up to 100.0% (2of2) then pops up

"Impulse was not able to update, self-updater not found in download. lease try again later.

press OK and get the same message, then again, then it stays on "Downloading Impulse update - Connecting..."

Exactly the same prob on 2 machines, Vista with SP1 on both, any help will be appreciated

Edit: Modes please delete the other 2 threads, Impulse did not take me away from the create thread/post windows when I hit submit, so I assumed it hadn't created the thread. Sorry.

Also Inpulse doesn't even recognize that WindowsBlinds 6 is even installed on my computer either.... Even though I've been running it since before I installed Impulse the last two times...

I just downloaded Impulse for the first time and when I start it up I get an Error massage telling me it can not connect to the server and to make sure I have my Background Intelligent transfer service running. I checked and it is running Any Ideas. I have already tried reloading it.

Behind a proxied firewall?

Always a good idea to check your firewall, etc. first.

It would be a minimum to be asked if we want to update Impulse before doing it automaticly ...

I launched Impulse, after the few Minutes for it to connect verify averything, it downloaded an update, and now it's been more than 20 mn i'm on a beautifull screen "Impulse" "Applying Impulse update" ...

It has surely crashed

I think i'll definitivly give up ...

Neophil78 are you using the full version or the web version of Impulse?

The link I posted in this thread before is the full version.

Please be aware that since this software is constantly being updated for the changes ahead there could be extended times of loading and uploading. If it hangs forever and ever then that is something else but it could be several minutes before a full update is complete. This won't always be the case of course so if it is happening every day please let me know.

Didn't know there was two versions
I don't know, i downloaded from http://storage.stardock.com/files/Impulse_setup.exe which gave me a file of 1812 Ko and installed that one on XP SP2 Family Edition french (i think i've a bad karma ...   )

That is the web version. Around 1 meg.

The full version is around 32 megs and has everything working off your computer. You don't have to try it out if you don't want to I am just experimenting with customer systems whom have issues to see if improves things for them. I belive this will help you out some. Either way I will stick with this till we find a solution or some improvement.

1°) I don't really understand ... which is the one running ON my Computer ?

2°) Can i install the full version over the web version (as a repair installation ...) ?

The way it works is this:
The web version is 1 meg and let's you install all the apps available to you on demand.  (That's what you have)
The full version comes with the core applications already installed (WB, IP, etc)

And yes, you can install on top.

This is getting silly. A new update for Impulse and again Impulse stops working.

This time same message there was an error updating yadda yadda yadda, but now the status sticks on "Impulse Update Ready"

And this time uninstalling, cleaning, re-installing cannot get it to work on either machine no matter what combinations I try. I couldn't even post this in Impulse, I can read the forum but cant post replies.

I used SDC eventually to get the WB update installed.

This is getting silly

+++++++++

Everything's is getting silly, wrong updates given on SDC, excessive activation reached (of course like each time on Week-end   ), even if product was not uninstalled and same as you for Impulse (with less damages than you have, but systematic blockings on screen "Impulse updating data" after the error report to Microsoft ...)

It's been said over and over again . . Impulse is in testing phase still.

Please report any bugs to support@stardock.com so they can get things fixed.  Mkae sure to include the log file from Impulse (click on the question mark in the upper right corner)

Sorry for the problem.  Glad SDC was there for you.

Though, it's a better reason to still have updated applications through SDC, and correct versions of these

all I get is "Downloading impulse update - connecting..." forever and ever. this has happened since i first got impulse a while ago, making it impossible to actually use the program. I have no firewall running, is there a port or something i need to open to make it work? have tried multiple uninstall/reinstalls
May 24, 2008 12:02:34
Do you have BITS disabled?
May 24, 2008 12:31:10
uhhh, wha?
May 24, 2008 13:09:19
BITS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Background_Intelligent_Transfer_Service

If it's disabled Impulse may fail.

Also . .are you on a corporate network?  Do you go through a proxy server?
May 24, 2008 13:25:34
uhm, i guess? i can use steam...

no and no
May 24, 2008 13:28:05
BTW, here's a little program done by Microsoft's MVP's which is keeeper and allow user ti repair/re install a few main things from Windows (as BITS for instance ...) It's called Dial a Fix
