Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

Windows XP 64 Support

By Posted November 15, 2007 01:28:07
Recently a lot of us complained about the lack of support from SD for XP 64 bit edition. SD pretty soon released WB6 on XP 64. Today I was surprised to find out that Microsoft itself doesn't care about XP 64 users.

I am grateful that SD released WB6 and SKS6 for a platform that is not supported by even its creator!

Interesting. Although at this point 32 bit is what the world is stuck on. I read it somewhere here on WC that the performance difference between 32 bit and 64 isn't that much.

Mostly true when you run 32 bit applications on 64 bit. But anything natively written for 64 bit (mostly drivers) runs faster on XP 64. 64 bit edition of IE runs smoother than the 32 bit IE which is the default on XP 64 (  )

Ditto! Thank you Stardock!

XPx64 is considered a beta and I continue to support MS by delivering error messages if they happen to come up. Sadly, MS does not even support IE7x64 for LiveUpdate. It has always wanted me to switch to IEx32.

I think this is interesting since after the Server 2008 release there won't be anymore x32 releases, according to press.

Hiya.

Just upgraded my ObjectDesktop. Happily DL'ing/installing all the goodies...except for a few that are "Vista" only. Not a problem...except that the 'link' for WindowBlinds says something to the effect of "We don't like your OS, so no, you can't install this." o_O

Ok, what about a version of WB that *does* support Xp64? Last I heard it was 5.51, but I see from above that some updated version of 6 is supported (or at least in beta). Where can I get the WindowBlinds part of my ObjectDesktop upgrade? I don't have to have all the shinny bells and whistles for it (re: v6)...I just want a full working version for XP64. Where do I go?

^_^

pming: WB6.01 will install on XP 64 bit.  Please note that the trial version will not work on that OS, but purchased versions do.
