Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

@Stardock guys

PLLLLLLEASE dear stardock guys - could you please get your act together when udpating beta skinstudio or wb6. Latest Version of skinstudio 5.95 b0012 installs again abou 20MB in another directoy as did anterior version. hen deleting folder of earlier version I get an error about having to install wb6

I am talking about c:\Documents and ....\allusers\stardock - there is one folder now called skinstudio and one called skinstudio6. I NEVER had another version of sks installed than the beta 6 versions.

Thats not tolerable, first forcing us to use that crappy stardock desktop brwoser with its IE stuff and than not being able to use the same folders your app installed before.

PLEASE correct that ASAP - its still my computer and I DECIDE where I install stuff on it

Ruben

PS: Please tell my how I can get rid of at least one of those folders (maybe the old one)

there are 2 skin studios = the last release and the 6beta
unlike WB, you can have both installed

the link in my all programs run SKS pro. I use SDC to run the 6beta

I Believe its a MS certification thing. For a program to be certified for WHOL on vista the program must now install to my documents or some BS...Complain to MS, its their requirements...stardock's just following suit...

The reason we had to switch the folder name is because the files were initially shipped with WB and we were concerned that a user could get into a mess if they installed SKS and WB in the wrong order.

You can delete the \skinstudio folder off the WB skins folder without any problems if you have installed the most recent SKS build (and future WB installers will not be including it)

What exactly is the problem with SDC using IE for certain things?

Thanks Neil

I did delete the skinstudio folder and it said on stratup - you must have wb installed - which I do

I never had any release of Skinstudio installed

So how do I go on from here?? I actually copied all the files from skinstudio6 to skinstudio (old folder) and that works

IE is probably one of the worst security nightmares there is. I stay away from it in all areas -mail, surfing, all, so I think you should look at opera or firefox to be able to do what sdcentral does

If you are getting an error from SkinStudio about it not being installed correctly then you are not running the latest version of SkinStudio.

hm, thats wierd. SDC says I have installed version 5.95.(b)012 and there is no udpate. I have in my folder:

all users\documents\stardock\windowsblinds 2 folders

skinstudio and skinstudio6. I can delete skinstudio6 without any problem, when deleting skinstudio I get an error message about having to install winodwsblinds, which I have

So??

Check the date of SkinStudio.exe in the program files\stardock\objectdesktop\SKS folder.

The earlier betas of SKS used the \skinstudio folder but this was changed to \skinstudio6 for the most recent build.  This is because the original \skinstudio files came with WB and there was a potential issue with files being downgraded depending on the order you installed WB and SKS.

For some reason you had the older version which is why you did not see the updated UI.
