Umm... 1 more dum Q.

Folder Browsing in XP

Using windows Xp, in any window & selecting "Tools" then Folder options, you are given 2 choices. When selecting a folder you can either have the window open in the same window or you can have each window open in its own window. The default is to open in the same window.

If in default mode and when selecting a folder, is there a way to perhaps, hold down a key like Cntrl or something when selecting, to have the folder open in its own window?
Sometimes i need to do one or the other.

Theres also not an option for this when right clicking the folder. Im guessing Vista has more options. Is this poss? or is there a software that allows for this?

jimmyyy there is another option QT TabBar Tabs on Explorer:

Tab bar for Windows Explorer
QT TabBar allows you to operates files and folders like tab browser
folder grouping, histories, etc.
+MD5 computing in another thread and progress bar
+Option added: Select file name without extension when renaming files (XP)

*fixed: duplicating branch menu's in history
*fixed: following functions didn't work in environment using 'Windows classic folders' in Folder Options (XP)

* middle clicking on folder to open new tab
* double clicking on folder empty area to go up one level
* search box
* grid line
* tab preview
* file launching history
and more maybe

System Requirements

Windows XP, Vista
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

And most importantly.......it is FREE ....you need to open View in your explorer window & checkmark to use...Works great

QT Tabbar

& on the same page QT ToolBar 2 search toolbar for Explorer

The manual for this one is Japanese...I translated it in google...here is the link...not sure if it will work...I use an extension in FF to do this

thankyou MySecret, im finally getting some control over navigating through windows. Not complaining. Thank you soooo much for your help.

As long as arrival takes place it can be a manhole for all i care.

OK to wrap up my findings.
I'll never comment again on a software tell ive actually used it

MySecret,

As it turns out QT TabBar was complete crap parden my french, also i came across a software called Nubs, which is also not worth anything to me.

As to your recommendation of SirSmiliey's post I tried out UltraExplorer, its SuperCool.
You can have "any 2 windows side by side within the main window (List view windows). You can have multiple UltraExplorer Windows open as well as regular windows open at the same time.

It solves my original post Question, in addition to solving a few of my other un-answered posted queries, Like a 'recent history' of folders opened. I spent enough time with it to know ill be using it, though im not familiar with all its angles.

ok one last last reply.

Ultra Explore also works with Total Commanders Lister Plugins.

But im kind of back tracking on this one as well.

If you were rearranging your files like you would your filling cabinet, this software would get 5 stars. Someone might like this that does alot of sorting, like an icon packager person or somth. But i cant really see it being used in general day to day operations, unless thats what you do all day. In addition, though its skinnable, it just doesn't have that visual appeal. its not that dynamic looking. ahh

With this software you cant have say 5 or 10 or 20 diff shortcuts to different folders on different docks. It forces you to have to keep all the shortcuts inside of the 'Ultra Explore' Its not really an ultra explore its more like a Explorer hub. But again its seems excellent if you were rearranging or sorting files.

Wish i could find a tabbed windows explorer. Guess ill keep looking.

anyways i love to complain about what software should be like

A tabbed Windows Explorer is an idea that should be implemented. But there's no 'Firefox equivalent' out there putting pressure on MS to do so, the way it did with IE.
