Do you have Skinstudio? If so, click on help on the toolbar, there you will find a tutorial. And be sure to check out the Workshop at Skinartistry (http://design.skinartistry.com/news.php ) join up (it's free)...and you can ask as many questions as you like and some of the resident skinners will be glad to help.

It's noobie friendly and has a base skin that you can download to experiment with.

Yes I do have Skinstudio, but none of the tutorials work.

You should also take note, the tutorials on line say nothing about the new features in windowblinds five, nor do they give you information on how to create avi's nor is there any mention of how to skin extra item images. I could go on but the tutorial is outdated. I've been ranting and raving about updating the damn tutorials but who really listens. I imagine they have your money by now so do the best you can and hopefully stardock will update the tutorials to include skinning every aspect of the skin, every nook and cranny. Something that has been needed for quite sometime.

You are a bit misinformed then Adam... I have been indexing online skinning tutorials for awhile now. Sort of making an easy place to look for them as they tend to be all over.

In the windowblinds tutorials you will find ones explaining the new v5 features and also older tutorials on creating avi's and so on. I too was fustrated at tring to find tutorials (I tend to learn better that way for the most part) which is why I started this... and keep looking for more/new ones.

What do you mean? I just checked every link, and the only one that is dead is the Aleksyndr tute.... which is a shame because it was an excellant tute for getting started.

Skoriginal, I stand behind my statement.............Stardock needs to update the tutorials and make it so every aspect of skinning windowblinds is covered. Who decided it should be up to the customer to lay out instructions. The "COMMUNITY"?? I apologize to rkko3, none of this is instructive, Good luck rkko3, scour the internet I guess. There seems to be no end to aftermarket tutorials.

Hi there rkk03. I'm not a skinner so I have no real experience to evaluate learning how to skin. I'm no graphic artist either. When I first looked into your post on 7/9 I noticed it had been sitting there since 7/1. I realize the 7/4 holiday was on, but I felt like if I commented the way I did, it would stir up a response looks like it worked. I'm sure you also kept looking yourself. If you're really interested in skinning, I think you will learn. It certainly seems others have. Good luck to you. I hope things go well.

Tutorials are ok, but i think the best way to learn something, is to roll your sleeves up and start using the program, most of the things in Skinstudio are pretty much self explanitory , also there is a help section located at the bottom left of the screen. I took Skin Studio and with the exception of a few minor things that i asked about in Stardock Chat ( and was graciously helped ) i was able to figure it all out fairly easily in about 2-3 weeks. It's amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it. Give it a try !

Ditto. Even though we all wished it...there really aren't any shortcuts.

Spend 10-12 hours just experimenting. After awhile you will be able to ask more educated questions, allowing others to give you better and quicker assistance.

For starters, Try simply recoloring a skin you are familiar with. Now you can follow the changes as they happen and get an understanding of how the pieces go together.

If you were to start a blog from the beginning, it might help the whole community. There are alot of people to benefit from such a thing. I'll be glad to peek in to offer any help.

Adam N. has done alot of tut's on Skinstudio. he keeps up with the changes pretty well. Since we are always trying to be "original" it's hard to expalin all the different ways to do sthings. His site is here
